Mistake

I have two more repeats on my Color Affection Shawl.

I goofed on the three color section. - Should have knit the wrap and turn and knit 3 more stitches after that. Oh no, not me - I counted the wrap and turn when I counted my three stitches. I should have read the pattern more carefully.

A friend of mine from knit group made the same mistake and told me about it while she was knitting this shawl. But I didn't notice it was wrong until I was almost complete with the 7 repeats stated in the pattern and I was not at the other end of the shawl yet.

I am going to try to get 3 more repeats out of the yarn (currently very low on the gray). I increased the stitches knit after the wrap and turn to 5 on the 8th repeat and 6 on repeat 9 & 10. Should turn out just fine as long as my yarn lasts.

I am trying to knit 1 repeat per day. If I am successful I will finish the shawl on Thursday but that is an awful lot of knitting, even for me.

Finally getting somewhere

I finished my second Silk Moon Crescent Shawl. I think it turned out beautifully. This one should go with just about everything I own.

I am already thinking about making yet another one. They are so easy.

A weekend

This has been a crazy weekend. We had Nicole's graduation party on Saturday. There were about 15 people who came and it was nice. We had 15 people cancel.

Mike had gotten home Thursday night from Ohio. On Saturday morning he came down with the same stomach flu the kids had. So the kids and I came together and went shopping for food, cleaning the house, and watching Elle. It was exahausting but we got everything done.

Yesterday we just sat at home, letting Mike recoperate, and watched Supernatural on Netflix.

I did not get much knitting or any spinning done this weekend. I am casting off the second Silk Moon Crescent Shawl, so there might be a picture to go along with tomorrows post.

Sick

All week this week my family has taken turns being sick with the stomach flu. First was April's (Elle's babysitter) son. The next day two of my kids got it. Wednesday night Izzi, April, and her husband Mike got it.

This flu seems to include 24 hours of vomiting and diaherra. it has not been fun.

This is just a small picture of what has been happening at my house.

Cottage garden

I am now spinning 4 oz of frabjous fibers hand-dyed merino in the #8 Cottage Garden. I bought it from Twisted Yarns. Probably around August last summer. It is so pretty.

It is a bit more difficult than the other two fibers I have spun on "lady" (my ladybug spinning wheel). The red and green colors are fun to see running through my fingers.

I am trying to spin at least a little bit every night. I am trying to get more consistent with my spinning. My goal is to get a worsted or sport weight yarn after plying. We will see what I get...I never know until I am finished.

Turquiose

I finished spinning the blue and brown fiber. I think it turned out really well. I started with 4.9 oz and got 274 yards out of it.

This is 70% Romney and 30% Mohair.

High school graduate

My daughter graduated high school this weekend. We spent most of Saturday at Reliant Stadium waiting for and watching her graduate.

I traded off chasing Elle with Mike so I wasn't able to get a lot of knitting done.
