Dye Day

We had a great time at the WC Mercantile Dye Day. Maggie, Lacy, and I went to Navasota on Saturday to dye yarn and roving.

Lacy brought a lot of roving and handspun to dye but I didn't have any and neither did Maggie. I bought 16 oz of Corridale and Maggie bought 500 yards of sock yarn along with 8 oz of BFL so she could try spinning.

We all had a great time and came home with some beautiful fiber. Below is a picture of the Corridale I dyed.

A day away

On Saturday I am going to WC Mercantile with Lacy and Maggie for a Dye Day. I am really looking forward to the time with friends laughing and chatting and also the experimentation of dyeing with acid dyes. I have been wanting to learn more about dyeing with acid dyes so that I can compare the end product to the kool aid dyed product and see what I like best. I'll let you know how the weekend turns out.

Wingspan

I have started a new project. I am knitting Wingspan out of Kauni, 160 g of W-EP. I think the colors are going to beautiful but so far the yarn itself is stiff and scratchy. Hopefully the yarn will relax once blocked. The colorway I choose is browns/oranges. I am not very far into the knitting yet but this is what I have so far.

Green and white silk moon shawl

I cast on for my third silk moon crescent shawl on Saturday.

These shawls are so easy to knit and comfy to wear. I am just having a blast making them.

This one is made out of I love this cotton from Hobby Lobby. It is a green and white yarn and just so soft. This is my progress as of Sunday.

Color affection - finished

I finally finished my color affection shawl. I haven't quite figured out how to wear it though.

I blocked it on Saturday and found one stitch that was not connected to any of the other stitched around it. I need to sew that stitch into the shawl now. I am so glad I found it before the entire shawl started to unravel.

I need to find out how to wear it now. This is a picture of it blocking on my bed.

A younger knitter

I bought some ruffled yarn for Isabella at Hobby Lobby so she could make a scarf. After less than one day this is how far she is. This is a great project for young knitters who are frustrated that they have been unable to "make anything". Cast on 6 and knit until the yarn runs out.

Blanket

Now that I finished a project I am taking a project out of my hybernation box and am going to try to complete it.

A friend of mine is expecting a grandson soon. I started a blanket for the baby a couple of months ago but other projects caught my attention so it got put on the bottom.

Well, the baby is almost here and I need to complete his blanket.

I need 25 knit squares. I believe I have about 13. After that I will stitch the squares together and knit a border on it.

I am using 5 colors for the blanket: red, blue, yellow, green, and orange. I am making 5 sets of squares using one pattern and then another set using a different pattern, and so on.

If the blanket turns out right, it will offer a variety of textures and colors for this little one.
