Unfinished projects bin

I took out a sweater that was in my unfinished project bin and have started to work on it again. I started this sweater in February but got bored with the stockinette stitch. I don't have that much left really (two inches on the bottom and two short sleeves). I might have this done in time to wear to the office on Monday.

Adaptation shawl - finished

I finished my shawl on Saturday night. It looks beautiful and fits really well too.

I wore it to work yesterday and it was just right for my air conditioned office.

More dying

I dyed 3 more skeins of yarn this weekend. I love how they turned out.

On Thursday I brought 3 skeins of yarn that I had dyed to show the girls at knit night. Laci bought the yellow, purple, and black skein. One of the other girls has been looking for Navy color (navy and gold) without success. She said she would buy the yarn from me if I was able to dye some up for her. I did and am really happy with the result.

Learning

Isabella is starting a new project. She is making a purse. The purl stitch is a new stitch for her, as well as using two yarns. Izzi says she doesn't like the purl stitch, but I let her know that every time you learn something new it takes time to get good at it.

Last night after knit night she said she wanted to knit the little purse in a different yarn. We will see.

Experiment

I have been playing around with hand painting yarn. Choosing the colors that I hope will look good together has been the most fun. My arms have been getting quite a workout winding the yarn onto the niddy noddy to prepare it for the dye.

I have dyed 3 skeins so far and am so happy with the result. I want to sell my hand painted yarn too. Below you can see the results.

A simple scarf

I started and finished a ruffled scarf on Saturday. It is a very simple knit and goes very quickly.

This was the project I gave to Isabella for her first complete project too.

Sewing project bags

This weekend I sewed a few project bags. The are each double sided. I like them. They are small, portable, and hold a ball of yarn very well.

You put the long strap through the small strap and put the long strap around your wrist. No ball of yarn rolling around everywhere.

Here are two I have made so far. I made two on Saturday and two more on Monday night I am hoping to be able to sell a few too.

What do you think? Do you like the bags? I was thinking of selling them for $10. Is that a reasonable price?

Wingspan complete

Last night I finished the Wingspan shawl. I am very happy with it. I wish the yarn was softer.

It will look very pretty this winter when I wear it.

Two done

Isabella finished her Silk Moon Crescent Shawlette. It looks perfect on her. She worked so hard on her shawl. I am trying to come up with another easy project for her now.

I finished the monster for my co worker. I am very happy with him. He is bright, soft and cute. Hopefully the little boy who he is going to will love him a lot.

New yarn

I plied my singles together last night. My finished yarn is 286 yards of soft lusciousness. I love it! It turned out so soft and pretty.

Anniversary

19 years ago I married my best friend and am looking forward to many more years together. It helps to have someone to go through this world together with. Life is HARD. I love you Michael Wittenhagen.

In Progress

I haven't completed anything this weekend. Saturday, mike and I went out for our 19th wedding anniversary (it is really July 17th, Tuesday). Sunday i had a migraine all day and I am still fight it today.

I was having some trouble with my spinning but Saturday I was able to take some time and figure out what I was doing wrong (not enough twist, too much brake). After that the spinning was just flying out beautifully.

I worked a little bit on the monster. One leg done and started the second.

Wingspan has another triangle complete and at least one more to go.

My adapation shawl has a few more repeats completed.

Maybe I'll have a few pictures for you later this week. Depends on how things go. At least Mike is in town this week. He is taking two of our daughters to the dentist today. One for wisdom teeth and another one to have 3 baby teeth pulled.

Talk to you later.

Challenge

I am in my living room on a Thursday night. Thursdays are normally a knit night but this week Houston has gotten some rain, more rain, with a topping of rain. This morning the roads were flooded. Tonight a lot of them were impassible. So I am sitting in my living room, which is full of people, trying to be alone.

There has been some upheval at work this week, Mike has been traveling, and I have a headache. This has been a very challenging week for me.

Below is a picture of the progress I have made so far on the monster I am knitting.

Funny Face

My cute little monster is done. She is all ready for gifting to a new little life who will be born around September.

A friend at work also wants a monster, for her grandson's birthday. So I am casting on for another one.

Second new project

The second project I cast on is a another monster. This is for a baby who will be coming soon (a little girl).

I am basing my monster on Bea the basement monster from "The Big Book of Knitted Monsters". I have the body and arms done so far.

I think she is turning out adorable.

First new project

I cast on two new projects this weekend.

The first one is the adaptation shawl. It is going to be a very light and airy shawl. I really like the colors of the yarn I am using. It is called curry.

This is the yarn I bought in Florida while I was on vacation. It is a bamboo lace weight, 1260 yards but I am using it knit double.

Turning one

Happy birthday Eleanore Nancy Wittenhagen. My youngest turns one today. I can't believe it has already been a year.

Another one bites the dust

We stayed indoors most of the day yesterday and watched Doctor Who. We finished season 3. All of us are really enjoying this series. It is so nice when we can find something the whole family can watch and enjoy. (I have a HUGE crushed on The Doctor...shhh shhh don't tell.)

I finished the baby blanket last night while we watched fireworks. April, Mike, and the boys joined us and we had a good time. I really like where we go to watch them in Tomball. Very little crowds and easy to get in and out.

Here is a picture of the finished baby blanket.

One down two to go...

I finished my 3rd Silk Moon Crescent Shawl. I love this pattern and the look of the finished shawls. I think I am going to leave this one at the office for those cold air conditioned days.

I have finished sewing up the baby blanket and now only have the border to knit. This is my progress so far. It seemed to take forever to sew it all together.

Ran out

I finished knitting the squares for the baby blanketand now I am in the process of sewing it up. I am about halfway with that.

I also worked on my Silk Moon Crescent Shawl #3, but I ran out of yarn so I am going to run out to Hobby Lobby today at lunch and pick some more up.

Nicole and Andrew came back from CIY last night. It was so good to see them. After a week you really start to miss them. Sounds like they really took the outing seriously though and are recommitted to living the way Jesus wants them to and following his lead for their life.

Nicole's car sounds horrible so we are going to schedule it for a tune up. Until we get it back, nicole and I will be sharing a car. ;-)

Hope you all had a great weekend. Maybe I will have some progress to show you tomorrow?!
